Climbing, Top Rope anchor to a tree?
I have a question. I've been up for quite some time, and while I took a break from the past years, since I am taking a step back in I want to be absolutely sure about is safety first. Saturday I'm uploading at a point that has a lot of trees lush to anchor outside, but the trees are a good 10-20 feet from the edge of the cliff. I have a lot of bands, and always have at least 3 anchor points, my question is how do I top-rope this? Obviously I do not want the rope to slide over the edge, while a climber is in insurance. I have the running belt anchors all the way to the edge of the cliff?
You have several options. I will give you what I think the ideal setting and can try to match the best can with the materials you have. installation of two to three anchorages on separate trees. Make sure each one is doubled up (two separate slings in each tree). Clip a closet in each of these deep (through two of each anchor). Get an old piece of static line or a couple long pieces of cordelette. Use these pre-match three anchors the tree and run multiple static line or anchorage on the edge of the cliff. Between the cliff and the line / cable to use a sturdy, like a canvas or string bag or a pair of old-shirts (to be prepared for what you put under there to potentially get worn or broken). Note that the main point of the bone tie should extend beyond the edge of the cliff. Then we one or two boxes to connect the toprope to the point. If you are serious about remembering (and possibly learning a lot) about climbing anchors and safety, I recommend the book "Climbing Rock Anchors: A Comprehensive Guide "by Craig Luebben and published by Books mountaineers. It covers all types of professional climbing, including trees and rock anchors, as well as how to install and even in all the forums.
