2010 College Football Predictions – Wisconsin
A 20-14 victory over the Miami Hurricanes in the Champs Sports gave the Badgers of Wisconsin its first season 10 wins since 2006. With substantial new talent on both sides of the ball, Wisconsin, hopes to take the next step in 2010. The next step would be a Big Ten game and a BCS bowl, but to achieve these goals the Badgers have to beat anyone in Iowa or Ohio State and maybe two. Both Iowa and Ohio State handed losses Badgers double-digit in 2009, and they did removing the power of Wisconsin running attack. They forced the Badgers to beat them through the air, and quarterback Scott Tolzien was not prepared for the challenge. You will have to be this season for the Badgers to contend for the Big Ten championship.
Offense: Wisconsin told with the No. 1 offense in the league last season, scoring 31.8 points and 416.9 yards per game scoring. The key to the production of Wisconsin offense was able to run game also led the Big Ten with an average of 203.9 yards per game. Star running back John Clay was largely responsible for Wisconsin results on the ground. He ran for 1517 yards and 18 results en route to capturing the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Award. With the clay back, the badger will have an excellent opportunity to be the first-team offense in the conference again. But for the Badgers win the Big Ten, they will need strong performances in key games Tolzien. Last season, Tolzien was sacked six times and intercepted twice by the state of Ohio. In Iowa, was sacked four times and intercepted three times. Ohio State and Iowa both look to make the Badgers beat them through the air again this season, Wisconsin big Ten title hopes could rely heavily Tolzien in these big games.
Defense: Wisconsin was in the top half of the Big Ten defensive last season, but this is still the side of soccer that is slowing. The Badgers ranked No. 4 in the league in scoring defense last year, giving up 21.8 points per game. That was good for a respectable 33rd nationally. Without But considering that Ohio State held its opponents to 9.3 points less per game, and Iowa held its foes to 6.4 points less per game, just simply not cutting. The Badgers were considered No. 1 in the league in run defense a year ago, holding the opposition to just 88.2 rushing yards per game, but must show improvement against the pass. That could be a problem after losing free safety pin Chris Maragos.
Prediction: third Big Ten – I hope that the badger can record 10-straight win its second season, but Ohio State and Iowa is likely to stand in the way of a championship the Big Ten. Be sure to check out my 2010 Big football predictions 10 to see how I have the rest of the league taking shape.
